A collet setting features a thin metal rim—often hand-crafted from silver or gold—that wraps around the diamond’s girdle, creating a sleek but durable frame. This technique was popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, especially in early European jewelry, where diamonds were often foil-backed to enhance their sparkle under candlelight. Today, antique collet-set diamonds are highly sought after for their old-world charm!

This killer 3.57ct old European cut diamond is beautifully set in this faithfully recreated collet setting (in antiqued 18kt gold), and strung on a Victorian long chain.  Long and dramatic, the chain's length allows for it to worn double dup, even tripled!  The diamond has a perfect OEC facet pattern and sparkles like mad against the dark patina of the setting.
